Game Changer

ft Maggi Naija Pot Cube

press play...

Maggi showed up at my doorstep with a mystery box with vegetable and palm oil, dried fish and so many other goodies.

the unveiling...

I’ll be honest I was a little underwhelmed because I was like;

“Efo? Nice, but a little boring"

(thanks to Mummy) I must have made at least 100 pots of Efo at this point so I just thought there was nothing new I could do that would be interesting enough to document.

But then,

I smelt the Naija Pot cube...

I was immediately excited!

I could already smell the difference it was going to make to the Efo.

The best way to describe it is ‘native in a cube’, I feel like you could make anything and add the Naija Pot cube and it would instantly be a local Naija dish.

It adds the perfect amount of that distinctive taste we love in stock fish, crayfish, and smoked fish.

And I may be wrong but I also tastes a hint of Iru.

Droooooool.

Rather than spending ages boiling stock fish (and stinking up the house) or separating bones from your smoked fish all you need is this cube.

We all have our lazy days but we still want the flavors as if we did all the work, so this is a must have in your cupboard.

I still used stock fish, smoked fish and crayfish in my vegetable because ...oink

but the naija pot cube just added perfectly to their flavours.

And the smell ! The kitchen smelt like we were having a party !

Now, the Efo itself.

It was simply delicious.

Really delicious ...

It tasted like mama puts food with that local smell and taste that you’re only guaranteed to get at a bukka or in the village when your grandma cooks.

But Maggi has brought it home to us !

its a game changer...

My worry that I wouldn’t be able to make 'boring old Efo Riro' interesting was definitely thrown out the window when the Naija Pot cube got involved.

There are a million and one meals to cook with these cubes, and of course, dishes across all of our delicious Nigerian tribes.

(But maybe stick to local dishes with this because I tried it with Indomie and it didn't bang at all)

Everything I cook palm oil with, I will now be using these cubes in...believe that !
The possibilities don’t end there but I’m mad for palm oil so these cubes and I are about to go on a wild journey!

I have some ayamase pepper in the freezer waiting to be made, so we’ll start there.
